In discussing waste management in a mega-city, it will be pertinent to understand what is the simplest definition to waste. Waste can be described as a material, substance, or by-product eliminated or discarded as no longer useful or required after the completion of a process. Sources of waste (among others) can be said to be: household, commercial, public and industrial. Going further, let's get to understand what a mega-city is. A mega-city is usually defined as a metropolitan area with a total population in excess of ten million people. From the above definition, we can deduce that Lagos State is a mega-city (as it's among the 37 mega-cities recognized worldwide).
